Optimization of technical areas

When planning the technical areas, details often have a major influence on the subsequent operation of the yacht. Due to the complexity of these areas, however, many details and interrelationships on technical drawings and on the screen are lost or simply misinterpreted.

A VR model enables a spatial understanding that can otherwise only be achieved in real mock-ups or on the built yacht. The only difference is that this understanding is achieved faster, earlier and more cost-effectively in VR.

A VR model of the technical areas during construction gives the crew the opportunity to clearly understand the current status of the planning, try it out virtually and provide valuable feedback. However, the planning engineers themselves also benefit from the increased overview offered by virtual reality.

This reduces subsequent change requests and facilitates more efficient operation of the yacht.

For this type of complex VR model, we have developed special data pipelines that automatically convert the shipyard's design model into a VR model, enabling regular updates of large volumes of data.

Additional possibilities:

  • The model can also be inspected on screen, a VR system is not absolutely necessary.
  • In the VR model, the visibility of the objects can be controlled in different ways, e.g: "only steel construction", "only steel construction + exhaust system
